Project Description
Demonstrating the rigor of the code, our building achieved a performance that was 3.5% superior to the baseline. While this is a commendable achievement, it underscores the challenges posed by the demanding energy code baseline requirements.
Our design strategy incorporated high-efficiency variable air volume heat pumps for the A/C systems. These were synergistically paired with a make-up air unit, which leveraged heat pump technology for both cooling and heating functions. To further optimize energy consumption, we integrated a sophisticated controls system. This system featured demand control ventilation and differential dry bulb economizers, ensuring efficient and responsive climate control.
One of the significant challenges we faced was ensuring the building's compliance with the energy code. This required a collaborative approach, where we worked closely with the architect and installation contractors. Through this partnership, we meticulously fine-tuned both the building envelope and mechanical systems. Our collective efforts ensured that the building met the energy code requirements, specifically through the performance method, highlighting our team's dedication to sustainable and compliant design solutions.
