Contrary to popular belief, piping systems require maintenance up to and including replacement. In order to ensure the un-interrupted service commonly expected by residential tenants highly invasive actions may be required.
Pragmatic PE was able to leverage our internal Fire Sprinkler and Plumbing expertise to provide the engineering services necessary to restore continued service while also providing critical upgrades to the building piping systems. The unique nature of the facility design, in addition to recent regulatory revisions drove the requirement for installation of a new site level backflow prevention device.
Backflow preventer installation will protect the municipal domestic water delivery system
The backflow install caused our Fire Sprinkler team to re-calculate the facility fire suppression system. This was needed to verify that the new backflow device would not adversely impact the Fire suppression system.
The initial RFP focus was to re-capitalize the drain/waste/vent piping system due to age related failures.
Additionally, the Plumbing team was uniquely positioned to consult on tenant related concerns pertaining to the Domestic Hot Water distribution system. After review, a series of recommendations were provided to restore and enhance the distribution system function.
The success of this project was ensured through regular and consistent communication with our client. The final result is a safer city water system, re-capitalized building drainage system, and a properly functioning central water heating system.
