In the vibrant City of San Francisco, our team delivered an energy model for a building powered by natural gas. The results were commendable, showcasing a performance that was over 10% superior to the standard design. This achievement was not just a mere benchmark but a critical requirement. In San Francisco, any building utilizing natural gas mandates an energy model that demonstrates a performance exceeding the baseline by at least 10%. Our innovative engineering design not only met this criterion but also facilitated substantial financial savings for the owner. By sidestepping the need for a solar hot water system, which would have been essential to achieve the 10% performance boost over the baseline, the owner saved hundreds of thousands of dollars. Furthermore, our expertise played a pivotal role in assisting the owner and architect in evaluating various insulation types for the building envelope. This meticulous analysis ensured an optimal balance between initial construction costs and the long-term expenses associated with the building's electricity consumption.
