Project Description

John Muir Elementary is a brand-new school located in Martinez, California. The school, being build in area that has the potential forseismic acvity, was built with multiple seismic breaks which presented a challenge for the systems that crossed over the seismic breaks. For the mechanical system, ductwork and piping crossing over the seismic breaks required a flexible connections so that they can withstand an earthquake with little to no capital damage. The school was complete with classrooms, a library, restrooms, and a large multi-purpose auditorium which had a separate thermal zone for the stage. Roof-top packaged units were utilized, with 100% economizers with powered exhaust for exceptional energy savings during the times of the year when the climate is mild.
